Air & vapour control layers act as barriers to prevent moisture within the building’s warm air from reaching the insulation layer and forming interstitial condensation. In roof and wall installations, impermeable AVCLs increase the building’s air tightness and aid the control of condensation within a roof space.
• Compliance with Building Regulations
Installed on the warm side of insulation, Powerlon VCLs help ensure that the building envelope is properly sealed, aligning with Building Regulations Part L concerning energy efficiency.
• Durability
Being chemically inert, these membranes are unaffected by mild acids and alkalis found in soils, do not rot, and do not support mildew or other organic growth.
• Versatile Applications
Suitable for use in roofs, walls, and floors, they contribute to the structural integrity and energy efficiency of various building components.
• Moisture and Air Barrier
Serving as impermeable barriers, they effectively control ventilation and prevent heat loss by minimizing interstitial condensation.
• CE Marking:
The manufacturer has taken responsibility for CE marking the product in accordance with harmonized European Standard EN 13859-1:2014.
Where should Powerlon VCLs be installed? These membranes should be installed on the warm side of insulation in roofs, walls, and floors to prevent interstitial condensation and comply with Building Regulations Part L.
How does the grammage affect the performance of VCLs? A higher grammage indicates a thicker and stronger membrane, offering enhanced durability and resistance to mechanical stresses. For example, VCL270 has a grammage of 270 gsm, providing increased strength compared to VCL170, which has a grammage of 170 gsm.
Are Powerlon VCLs compatible with various insulation materials? Yes, due to their inert chemical composition, Powerlon vapour control membranes are compatible with a wide range of insulation and roofing materials.
Do Powerlon VCLs require special tools for installation? No, these membranes are easy to install and do not require special tools. They can be cut and fixed using standard construction equipment.
Can Powerlon VCLs be used in damp environments? Yes, they are suitable for use in damp environments, such as roof spaces, to control condensation and protect insulation.
